What do I do if it rains on my wedding day? The truth is; you really only have one choice. EMBRACE IT! Listen, I know it’s a scary thought. You’ve spent endless hours and even months planning your dream wedding right down to the tiniest of details. And now it’s a week before your wedding day and you’ve been checking the wedding forecast incessantly hoping the forecast will change. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to make inclement weather go away. What you can do is, welcome it by going with the flow. After all, is there anything more romantic than dancing in the rain with your soulmate?

Here are some tips I tell my couples when rain is predicted on their wedding day:

1) Trust your photographer. You’ve done the research and chose the perfect photographer for you and your wedding day. You’ve seen examples of their work in both perfect weather and not so perfect weather. A great photographer will know how to back light the rain to capture each individual raindrop and freeze it into the frame while he or she poses you in a romantic embrace.

2) Bring along useful props for your portraits. How about a classy parasol or umbrella? (I always bring along extras for my couples so they will come outside and play with me in the rain) Maybe also bring along some fun and quirky rain boots too?!

3) Be flexible with your photographer regarding time for portraits. Sometimes a rainy nighttime portrait is the most romantic photograph in your entire wedding portfolio! Any seasoned photographer will only need 5 minutes or so to capture a beautiful, romantic portrait as seen in the examples below.

4) Smile and relax! You’ve done all the planning work, your guests are all here, now it’s time to let it all go and create some unforgettable images with your amazing photographer!

Here are some images I’ve created for some of my willing couples on their rainy wedding day, enjoy! P.S. If it rains, it’s good luck that I’m you’re wedding photographer!
